DIY 1 : Faux Flowers (for Mother’s Day)

2 days left until Mother’s day! If you’re a sentimental person like me, I bet you’d be cramming at this time to find a gift for your birthgiver-ers too.. haha. Practically, we’d all opt for something easy like just buying something. Admit it or not — we’re all pretty materialistic in one way or another.

This year, my dad and I got her a high-class bag she’s wanted ever since and we bought it in Japan! As usual, I also made a special gift along side cooking a meal for her this coming Sunday morning. Which concludes that every time we choose to buy an item or make something, I’d go for both. My dad and I would get her a gift (well, dad pays, of course) and then I start constructing my DIY. Just like last year, check out what I did for my Mama here!

So, in the nick of time, I managed to make this:
faux

Now you surely must noticed how I have a thing for flowers and today I urged myself to make a handmade present for my mom.

In making this DIY project
First, you’ll need to prepare the items you need:
materials
Important:
• Jar
• Scissors
• Crepe paper
• Fuzzy Wires
• Cardboard (or buy fake twigs)
• Paint & brushes
• Colored papers / Newspapers

Optional:
• Ribbons & yarn
• Washi tape

Prepare the jar and stuff paper inside so the twigs will be stable enough to stand up. Another way to make the fake twigs is to paint thin strips of cardboard shaped into twigs.

I ended up making the jar look like this. Good thing my mom loooves pink haha

Now, to the flowers part:

1. You cut circles into the crepe paper (of course, any color of the paper for the flowers is suitable to your choice, purple was actually the only one available in my room). 2. Scrunch up the circle from the middle. 3. Twist! until it forms this. (ooh it rhymed lols)

Hope this can be helpful!
